How to Style Faux Trees & Planters
A beautifully styled tree brings height, softness and life to a room, without the watering, leaf drop or worry. With a few minutes of shaping and the right planter, yours will look as though it’s always been there.
This guide takes you from unboxing to the finishing touches, just as I style mine in our home.

Your tree in four simple steps
1. Unbox with care
Lift your tree out by its pot, not its branches.
2. Shape the branches
Assemble (if needed) and open out every branch and leaf.
3. Slot it in
Lower the tree into the planter insert.
4. Finish with moss
Cover the top for a natural, just-planted look.
UNBOXING
When Your Tree Arrives
Your tree travels with its branches gently folded, so it arrives safely.
- Open the box on its side and lift the tree out by its pot, not its branches.
- Remove all packaging, including any ties or sleeves around the branches.
Keep the box. It’s the best way to store or move your tree in future.
ASSEMBLE & SHAPE
Bringing Your Tree to Life
- Slot the tree together following the numbered arrows if needed.
- Start at the bottom and work upwards, bending each branch out.
- Open every leaf and stem, separating any that have been pressed together in transit.
- Fill gaps by angling branches towards any bare spots, and step back to check from every side.
- Shape like nature: it doesn't need to be symmetrical.
It takes around 10 minutes, and it’s what makes a faux tree look truly real.
EVERYDAY CARE
Keeping your tree looking its best
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth, or use a hairdryer on its coolest setting.
- Rotate it occasionally if it sits near a window, so it wears evenly.
- Keep it away from heat and flame: radiators, log burners, open fires and candles.
- Indoors or out: only trees labelled UV Proof are designed for outdoor use. All other trees are for indoor use only.

Choosing Your Planter
Every planter fits every tree. Each Ultra-Lite planter has a built-in insert made to hold the black nursery pot that all our trees arrive in. There’s no measuring and no guesswork, so you can simply choose the one you love.
- Made for indoors and out. They’re fully weatherproof, with a small drainage hole in the base, so they’re just as at home on a terrace or beside the front door as in your living room.
- Light enough to move. They have the look of aged stone, without the weight, so restyling is easy.
Choose by style and space. Pick the shape and finish that suits your room. For balance, a taller tree looks best in a larger planter.
THE FINAL TOUCH
Finish with Faux Moss
With our faux carpet moss. It hides the mechanics of the tree and pot beneath a soft, natural layer of green, so your tree looks as though it’s growing right there in the planter.
Simply cut and tuck. Trim the moss to shape with scissors, then tuck it neatly around the base of the trunk and into the edges of the planter. It takes just a few minutes.
No mess, no maintenance, no fuss. No soil to spill, no watering, and it stays lush and green all year round.
One sheet finishes two planters, so a single sheet is often more than enough.

Faux Trees
With a little care, our faux trees will look beautiful for years: no watering, no leaf drop, and no worrying about light.
Dust the leaves with a soft, dry cloth, or use a hairdryer on its coolest setting to blast any stubborn dust. Avoid sprays and harsh cleaning products.
Please keep faux trees well away from radiators, log burners, open fires and candles. Heat can warp the leaves, and faux trees are not fire resistant.
Gently fold the branches inwards and upwards and place it back in its original box. It’s the best way to protect it between homes or seasons.
Only our outdoor plants and trees labelled UV Proof are designed for outdoor use. All other trees are for indoor use only.
No. Keep your tree in its nursery pot and lower it straight into the planter’s insert. It sits perfectly upright and secure.

All of them. Every Ultra-Lite planter has a built-in insert made to fit the black nursery pot all our trees arrive in, so any planter works with any tree.
Yes. Every Ultra-Lite planter comes with an insert, colour-matched to the planter so it blends in seamlessly. It holds your tree’s nursery pot perfectly upright.
- Barrow, Bucklesham and Wickham: the insert is removable, so you can also use the planter on its own.
- Tuddenham: the insert is built into the planter and can’t be removed.
They’re light enough to lift and move easily, but they’re far from flimsy. Each one has a reassuring, solid feel and sits sturdily on the floor. You get the look of aged stone, without the back-breaking weight.
- Barrow: 2.7kg

Our Ultra-Lite planters are weatherproof and made for outdoor use. In exposed spots or high winds, we recommend adding a little weight to the base for extra stability:
- Barrow, Bucklesham and Wickham: lift out the insert, add gravel, sand, stones or a paving slab to the base, then replace the insert.
- Tuddenham: the insert is built in, so simply pour sand, gravel or small stones through the opening before lowering in your tree.
