The Journey So Far

Where It All Began

What started as a small, spontaneous idea quickly became something far bigger than I ever imagined.

When my in person wreath workshops could no longer go ahead, I decided to create at home wreath kits, complete with a follow along video. I expected to send out around 50. Instead, over 500 orders came through.

There were no systems, no stock plans, and no clear roadmap for how we would deliver it all. Just determination, long days, and a commitment to make it happen, all whilst caring for a newborn and an 18 month old.

That moment changed everything.

Building the Foundations

“Flowers for the Weekend” was born.

Every Friday at 8pm, Chris, my husband and now business partner, and I went live on Instagram, sharing a new, inspiring floristry tutorial.

What began as a growing community quickly evolved into something far greater. We created a logo, built a website, and before long, our home was completely taken over, leading us to move into our first warehouse.

That same autumn, we launched our first faux flower collection, and the response was immediate, selling out within minutes.

Momentum Builds

Momentum quickly gathered pace. Chris joined the business full time as I could no longer keep up alone, and together we began launching seasonal collections that consistently sold out.

Day to day life became a blur of packing orders, solving problems, and pushing forward at speed. It was a relentless year, full of exciting highs and invaluable lessons, most of which came from learning the hard way.

Stepping Up

I published my first book, House of Flowers, a truly special and defining personal milestone.

We travelled to Asia to meet our suppliers for the first time, seeing our designs come to life in an entirely new way and deepening the foundations of what we were building.

Back home, we had already outgrown our first warehouse. We moved into a new space, doubling our size and creating the capacity we needed for the next stage of growth.

Finding my Role

As the team grew, the business evolved with it.

I gradually stepped away from packing orders, allowing me to focus on product design, development, and building larger, more considered seasonal collections. We returned to Asia to strengthen our supplier relationships and sign off new designs, bringing even greater intention to what we were creating.

For the first time, I felt a genuine shift in my role, from doing everything, to leading the vision behind it.

A Breakthrough Year

This year marked our most significant product launch to date, with the introduction of our faux trees and planters, a defining moment for the brand.

I was invited to share my journey as a founder and CEO across multiple platforms, something that felt incredibly surreal after years of quietly building behind the scenes.

To top it all off, I was honoured to be named Creative Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, a moment of real pride and reflection on just how far things had come.

A New Chapter

After 12 months in the making, we unveiled our rebrand, a moment to pause, reflect, and clearly define who we are and where we are going.

Our new logo, four circles representing the seasons, comes together to form a subtle nest, flower, and wreath, capturing everything our brand stands for.

Alongside this, we are preparing to launch new collections I have been designing for over two years.

It is shaping up to be a truly special year, and we cannot wait to share it with you, our community who have been part of this journey from the very beginning.

A Brand Built on Connection

Founded by husband-and-wife team Ashlee and Chris, The Suffolk Nest was born from a love of florals, interiors, and the joy of sharing creativity. From day one, community has been at the heart of everything we do.

“Staying connected with our community is still my favourite part of this journey. I never want it to feel like we're just a brand - we're real people, sharing things we genuinely love with others who feel the same."

ASHLEE JANE - FOUNDER & CEO
