Styling Faux Trees: A Simple Guide to Tranform Your Space

Table of Contents

Styling a faux tree should feel effortless. But I know from experience that it’s often the small details that make the biggest difference - where you place it, how you shape it, and what you pair it with.

Get that right, and a faux tree doesn’t just sit in a space – it’ll completely transforms it.

    1. Start with the Right Position

Before anything else, think about where you’re going to position your tree.

Faux trees work best when they feel intentional - anchoring a space rather than filling a gap.

Some of my favourite places to style them are:

    • A corner of a living room
    • Beside a sofa or armchair
    • In an entryway to create an impactful first impression
    • In a kitchen corner to soften harder finishes
    • In an orangery to bridge the indoors with th our

Look for areas that need height, softness, or balance.

    2. Think about the Scale – this changes everything

One of the most common mistakes I see, is choosing the wrong size for a space.

A tree that’s too small can feel lost, while one that’s too large can overwhelm the space.

    As a guide:

    • Smaller trees work beautifully in tighter corners or layered spaces
    • Taller, more sculptural trees are perfect for open-plan areas or rooms with height

If in doubt, go slightly larger - it always feels more considered.

    3. Shape It Properly – don’t skip this step

This is where the magic really happens.

When your tree arrives, take a few minutes to open out the branches and adjust the shape.

    • Gently separate each branch
    • Avoid symmetry - natural trees are never perfect
    • Let some areas feel slightly fuller than others

This one step is what takes it from “artificial” to completely believable.

    4. Pair with the Right Planter

Like a vase with flowers, the planter for a tree is just as important as the tree itself…if not more so in my opinion.

It should feel balanced in both size and tone - complementing the tree rather than competing with it.

Our Ultra-Lite planters are designed to:

    • Look like natural stone
    • Be lightweight for easy styling
    • Work seamlessly with our insert system for a perfect fit every single time

Together, they create a finished, elevated look.

    5. The Finishing Touch

To enhance the overall look of your faux tree and planter, I highly recommend topping the planter with moss or pebbles. Our Living Carpet Moss and Preserved Reindeer Moss give a truly authetic finish to the look.

    6. Let It Breathe

A faux tree doesn’t need much around it. In fact, it often works best when it has some space. Avoid overcrowding it with too many accessories. Instead, let it stand out as a feature – a focal point that draws the eye naturally.

    7. Inside or Out

A selection of our faux trees are designed for both indoor and outdoor use thanks to intelligent weatherproof materials that won’t fade in sunshine.

    For outdoor styling:

    • Choose sheltered areas where possible
    • Pair with our Ultra-Lite planters – these are all weatherproof with a drainage hole at the base

This allows you to carry your style seamlessly from inside to out.

Styling a faux tree doesn’t need to be complicated.

With the right placement, shape, and pairing, it becomes one of the easiest ways to transform a space. And once it’s in place, it’s something you’ll enjoy every single day - without zero maintenance.

Find the faux trees and planters that will transforms your space.
