Caring for Your Faux Flowers
Our faux flowers are made to last, and with a little care they’ll stay as beautiful as the day they arrived. These are the simple habits I use to keep my own stems, trees and wreaths looking their best, from unboxing to packing away.

THE ESSENTIALS
Care at a glance
Fluff on arrival
Open out the petals and leaves before styling.
Avoid direct sun
Strong sunlight can fade colours over time.
Keep away from heat and flame
Keep stems well clear of candles, open fires and radiators.
Dust regularly
A soft cloth or a hairdryer on the coolest setting is all you need.
Water for plastic stems only
Paper and fabric-wrapped stems should always stay dry.
Store boxed and dry
In a lidded box, somewhere cool, dark and dry.
UNBOXING
When Your Flowers Arrive
Your stems travel carefully packed, so they’ll need a little attention before they look their best.
- Fluff out the petals and leaves, gently opening each one with your fingers.
- Bend out the side shoots so they sit naturally rather than flat against the stem.
- Shape the main stem with a soft curve. Nothing in nature grows perfectly straight.
It only takes a few minutes, and it’s the single biggest difference between faux flowers that look faux and faux flowers that look real.
WHERE TO STYLE
Display with Care
Out of direct sunlight. Like any fabric, faux flowers can fade over time in strong, direct sun. Choose a spot with soft, natural light.
Rotate now and then. If an arrangement stays in one place for a long time, turn it every few months so it wears evenly.
Away from heat and flame. Keep stems, garlands and wreaths well clear of open fires, candles, log burners and radiators. Heat can warp leaves, and faux flowers are not fire resistant.
Humid rooms. Fully plastic stems are fine for bathrooms and kitchens. Paper or fabric-wrapped stems are best kept away from steam and moisture.
KEEPING THEM FRESH
Cleaning Your Stems
A little regular care keeps your flowers looking freshly picked.
- Dust regularly with a soft cloth every couple of weeks, before dust has a chance to build up.
- Use a cool hairdryer on its lowest setting for delicate petals and hard-to-reach areas.
- Spot clean gently with a baby wipe or a lightly damp cloth, then let the stem dry fully.
Please avoid bleach, sprays and harsh cleaning products, and never put stems in the washing machine or soak paper-wrapped stems.
FOR GLASS VASES
Styling in Water
Using water in a glass vase creates the most realistic finish, but only do so for fully plastic stems. Paper, fabric or tape-wrapped stems should always stay dry, as the wrapping absorbs water, discolours and can cause the wire inside to rust.
- Change the water approximately every 10 days to keep it clear.
- Seal any cut ends with hot glue, super glue or clear nail varnish to protect the wire inside.

KEEP THEM SAFE
Storing Your Faux Flowers
The best place to store your stems is the box they arrived in. It’s made to protect them, so it’s the perfect home between seasons.
- Clean first. Dust and gently shake each stem before packing it away.
- Back in their box. Lay stems flat with a little space between them, so petals aren’t crushed.
- Wreaths and garlands. Store them flat in their box with nothing on top, so they keep their shape.
- Cool, dry and dark. Keep boxes away from sunlight, damp lofts and heat sources.
When you unpack them next season, give everything a gentle fluff and they’ll look as good as new.
