Why choose peonies for Valentine’s Day?
Peonies are one of the most popular florals for a reason – and they’re one of my personal favourites too! In nature, this slow-growing flower is known for the brief time it can be enjoyed in full bloom as well as its unique, slightly spiced scent, bowl-shaped petals, and gorgeous colour palette.
For me, it’s ideally suited to Valentine’s Day arrangements. Whether you’re looking to surprise that special someone, treat your best friend, or gift your Mum, you can show everyone you love how much they mean to you with this stunning – and symbolic – bloom.
No matter whether you choose white, cream, red, or blush pink peonies, this elegant flower conveys multiple meanings. Traditionally, it’s associated with love, luck, prosperity, and an endearing bashfulness.
For Valentine’s Day, I’d recommend the blush variety. This is an effortlessly romantic choice thanks to its feminine form and white petals with a splash of soft pink – it would make a perfect gift for 14th February.
A beautiful bouquet
While I love picking up fresh stems in late spring and early summer, peony season is always too short! It also means I’m not usually able to create Valentine’s Day peony arrangements – but that’s where our new faux stems have made all the difference.

Faux Blush Eucalyptus provides the perfect base with its lush foliage and blend of silvery-green leaves with blush pink tips. Faux Blush Magnolia and Faux Blush Peonies are perfect focal flowers. I like to start by placing the larger stems at the base of the display before adding smaller pieces towards the top to create depth and visual intrigue.
